It all began with a bittersweet moment in our family. Our mom, who had been saving up for years to buy a diamond ring—a symbol of her hard work and dreams—ended up paying a staggering ₹4 lakh for a 1-carat diamond. It was supposed to be her moment of pride, but something felt off.

Curiosity turned into concern when we started digging deeper. The so-called “authentic” diamond had no certification from a trusted authority, and the local jeweler’s assurances were as fragile as glass. After some research, we discovered the painful truth: she had been overcharged and misled. What shocked us even more was realizing she wasn’t alone. Nearly 48% of jewelry buyers in India are duped every year due to a lack of awareness and standardized certifications.

But that wasn’t the only discovery. We learned that only a single-digit percentage of Indians own diamond jewelry in the first place—a luxury often seen as unattainable for the majority. It became clear to us that diamonds, with all their allure, had become symbols of exclusivity and, sadly, exploitation.

That’s when we decided to flip the narrative. We founded Amaltas with one simple mission: to make diamonds accessible, trustworthy, and conscious.
